How braces colors work
Metal and ceramic braces use small elastic ligatures to hold the wire in each bracket. Those elastics are the colorful part, and because we change them at every adjustment visit, you get a fresh pick every 6 to 8 weeks.
Popular picks at our office
- School and team colors: Panthers purple, Giants orange and black (Dr. Payne approves)
- Seasonal: red and green in December, orange and black in October
- Subtle: silver, smoke or clear ties that nearly disappear on ceramic brackets
- Bold: alternating two favorites, or full rainbow. Kids love it, and it costs nothing extra.
Pro tip from our assistants: darker colors make teeth look whiter; yellow and clear can pick up curry and coffee tints between visits.
